CYP Africa participates in the Private-Public Partnership Launch

The Commonwealth Youth Programme Regional Center for Africa (CYP RCA) led by the Regional Director Mr. James Odit, fully participated and witnessed at a ceremony the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Ministry of Sport, Youth and Child Development (MSYCD) of the Republic of Zambia and stakeholders in the Youth Resource Center (YRC) initiative in Samfya District of Luapula Province. The partnership brings together Barclays Bank (UK and Zambia), UNICEF, ILO, and CYP RCA.

Thumbs up for the CYCI

The Commonwealth Youth Credit Initiative (CYCI) in Namibia has scored many success stories. This is according to a report by a delegation from the Ministry of Youth, National Service, Sport & Culture and the National Youth Council of Namibia which recently visited the Commonwealth Youth Programme Regional Centre for Africa (CYP RCA).

Youth Development through sport

On 20th -22nd September 2009, CYP Africa in collaboration with the Government of Zambia through the Ministry of Sports Youth and Child Development took part the Yotham Muleya sports festivals in Siasikabole village with a view of strengthening the links between the young people of Siasikabole and other stake holders in youth development.

Taking sport to another level

Located about 330 kilometers away from the capital city of Zambia, Lusaka in the Southern Province is Siasikabole Village in Choma District. Every year, this village hosts the Yotham Muleya Sports Festival. The Regional Director of CYP Africa and 35 members of staff journeyed to this rural part of Choma to participate in the sports festival organized by the Siasikabole Sports for all Association.

Commonwealth Partnership Platform Portal (P3) Africa consultative meetings

1 October 2009, the Commonwealth Youth Programme Regional Centre for Africa (CYP RCA) will host the Commonwealth Partnership Platform Portal (P3) consultative meeting for Zambia. Similar consultations have been and are taking place in South Africa, Botswana, Mozambique and Uganda.

Youth Empowerment in the Global Crisis: Zambia’s Response

Zambia Requests for Lead Country Status

August 19, 2009, the Government of Zambia presented a formal request to the Youth Employment Network (YEN) for Zambia to attain “Lead Country Status under the YEN, a global initiative for employment by the United Nations, World Bank and the International Labour Organization (ILO).
