In recent years, working jointly with the Francophonie, the Commonwealth’s relationship with the G20 has evolved significantly. The Dialogue will consider the Commonwealth’s contribution to G20 Development Agenda. It will examine how best to prioritise development policy issues to be taken up by the Commonwealth with the G20 in the period ahead; discuss ways in which the relationship might develop to the benefit of Commonwealth members; and consider how the Commonwealth-Francophonie relationship can be further strengthened. The Dialogue will be attended by all Commonwealth members, including the Commonwealth’s five G20 DWG members.
The Dialogue will take place on the morning of 21 April 2013 at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) headquarters in Washington DC. It takes forward discussions by Commonwealth Heads of Government in Perth in October 2011, where Commonwealth leaders endorsed a recommendation to initiate an Annual Commonwealth Dialogue on the G20 Development Agenda.
