The G20 Development Working Group (DWG) was established in 2010 and had pursued extensive work on several priority issues in development, many of which have direct relevance for the poorest, smallest and most vulnerable developing countries of the Commonwealth and the Francophonie. The Mexican G20 Presidency has ascribed exceptionally high importance in its work, including through its chairing of the G20 Development Working Group in 2012, to an effective process of outreach to the world’s poorest, smallest and most vulnerable developing countries. The outreach discussion represents a particularly important outreach, representing as it will do a dialogue with two associations representing almost 100 developing countries.
The meeting is being convened by Secretariats of the Commonwealth and Francophonie, together with the Mexican Presidency of the G20 Development Working Group for 2012. It will take place on the afternoon of 19 April 2012 at the World Bank Washington DC. The meeting will consist of an outreach and discussion among members of the Commonwealth, Francophonie and members of the G20 Development Working Group. The meeting will be preceded by an informal lunch, hosted by the Secretariats of the Commonwealth and the Francophonie; and will be followed by an evening reception, hosted by Mexico, as President of the G20 for 2012.
