Established in 1971, the Commonwealth Fund for Technical Co-operation (CFTC) is the principal means for providing technical assistance to Commonwealth countries. It is a mutual and voluntary fund. Members contribute resources according to ability and draw on them according to their needs.
The Secretariat collaborates with other development partners to ensure a collaborative and targeted approach for optimal development impact. CFTC’s annual budget of around UK£24 million is supplemented by considerable external resources through strategic partnerships.
