Promoting the rule of law and human rights
The liberty of the individual under the law, and equal rights for all citizens regardless of gender, race, colour, creed or political belief are among the Commonwealth’s fundamental values. Underpinning them is the 1991 Harare Commonwealth Declaration’s commitment to the rule of law as essential to the security and prosperity of humankind.
