2011 is going to be a full year for us in the Secretariat and the Communications Team in particular.
We have the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in October and the campaign related to that will start in earnest soon after the Commonwealth Week activities, focused on the theme “Women as Agents of Change” in March.
We have elections coming up in several Commonwealth countries where it is expected observer groups will be deployed (in Commonwealth-speak, they will be “present”). Uganda comes up in February, followed by Nigeria in April. Others are also on the cards.
Meetings of ministers of Health (May) and Finance (October) are also on the cards.
Other transformative work, with young people, with the Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group, with education, gender and health initiatives is also in full flow.
It will be a year of change.
