Commonwealth Gender Plan review

Ministers, Officials and Civil Society review Gender Plan

Ministers, senior officials and representatives from civil society met in New York on Saturday to disciss progress made on the Commonwealth Plan of Action for Gender Equality 2005-2015.

Five years ago, Commonwealth countries endorsed the Plan, which identifies four critical areas of concern in the Commonwealth: Gender, democracy, peace and conflict; Gender, human rights and law; Gender,poverty eradication and economic empowerment; and Gender and HIV/AIDS.

The mid-term review, based on data from country questionnaires will also shape Commonwealth objectives over the remaining five years of the Plan.
