Commonwealth to observe voter registration in Antigua and Barbuda

A Commonwealth Expert Team has arrived in Antigua and Barbuda to observe voter registration which is in progress.
The three-person team consists of:

The team will be briefed by the Electoral Commission of Antigua and Barbuda and will meet with a range of political and civil society groups. It will then visit voter registration centres around the country.

The observers will depart on 2 August after completing their report to the Secretary-General. The report will subsequently be made available to the Government of Antigua and Barbuda, the Electoral Commission and the leadership of the political parties taking part in the elections. It will also be available on the Commonwealth Secretariat website.

The Expert Team's Terms of Reference are as follows:
"Following an invitation to the Commonwealth Secretariat from the Chairman of the Electoral Commission to observe voter registration in Antigua and Barbuda, the Commonwealth Expert Team is to observe relevant aspects of the organisation and conduct of the voter registration process, in accordance with the laws of Antigua and Barbuda . They are to consider the various factors impinging on the credibility of this part of the electoral process and to determine in their own judgement whether it provides a sound basis for continued preparations for the General Elections."
