Commonwealth Secretary-General meets Kenyan Foreign Minister

Commonwealth Secretary-General Don McKinnon today met the Kenyan Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka at Marlborough House, the headquarters of the Commonwealth Secretariat in London. They discussed a variety of issues, including ways to promote youth employment and strengthening capacity in the areas of debt management, constitutional development, action on terrorism, the fight against HIV/AIDS, and education.
The Kenyan Foreign Minister thanked the Secretary-General for the work done by the Commonwealth Observer Group to the December 2002 General Elections. Mr Musyoka requested that the Commonwealth assist in implementing the recommendations contained in their report. Mr McKinnon commended the conduct of the recent election in Kenya.
"Shortly after President Kibaki was sworn in I congratulated him and assured him of the Commonwealth's support and this, my first meeting with the new Kenyan Minister for Foreign Affairs, was to chart a way forward", said Mr McKinnon.
