Commonwealth Secretary-General to visit Australia, Malaysia and Singapore

Commonwealth Secretary-General to visit Australia, Malaysia and Singapore Commonwealth Secretary-General Chief Emeka Anyaoku will visit three member countries from 28 August to 8 September 1999 for wide-ranging talks on Commonwealth issues with each country's leaders, including preparations for the forthcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting to be held in Durban, South Africa in November.
During his visit to Australia (from 28 August to 3 September), the Secretary-General will meet with Prime Minister John Howard, senior ministers and the Leader of the Opposition. Whilst in Australia, the Secretary-General will address the English Speaking Union 1999 World Members' Conference in Sydney on the evening of Monday 30 August. He will also be the Guest of Honour at a function of the Commonwealth Day Council of New South Wales at the New South Wales Parliament on Monday 30 August, where he will also deliver a speech on 'Democracy, Human Rights and the Commonwealth'.
In Malaysia (3-7 September), Chief Anyaoku will hold talks with Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad and other senior Ministers. Their talks will cover various aspects of co-operation between the Commonwealth and Malaysia.
In Singapore (7-8 September), the Secretary-General will meet with Prime Minister Mr Goh Chok Tong. He will also meet Minister of State, Mr Pow Chin Hock, on 7 September 1999.
