ADVISORY-Commonwealth Secretary-General in Kenya for environment meetings

16 February 2009

Commonwealth Secretary-General Kamalesh Sharma is in Kenya for meetings focusing largely on global environmental governance. He will also hold discussions with political leaders.

TUESDAY

1300 Attends the Commonwealth Consultative Group on Environment (comprising environment ministers and senior officials).

1500 Meets Prime Minister Raila Odinga (Prime Minister's Office). Photo-op.


WEDNESDAY 18 FEBRUARY 2009

1000 Meets Kenya's Speaker of the National Assembly Kenneth Marende (Parliament Buildings. Media opportunity after the closed-door meeting).

1400 Address to the Foreign Service Institute (Kenyatta International Conference Centre). Gathering will be attended mainly by diplomats and is open to the media.

0900-1300 Chairs United Nations Environment Programme Ministerial meeting under the topic "International Environmental Governance - Help or Hindrance?"
