President Obasanjo to visit Commonwealth Secretariat

The new Commonwealth Chairperson-in-Office, President Olusegun Obasanjo of Nigeria will meet the Secretary-GeneralDon McKinnon at Marlborough House on Friday 23 January. Nigeriaassumed the chair for two years after it hosted the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Abuja, in December 2003.

Discussions between President Obasanjo and Mr McKinnon are expected to focus on implementation of the outcomes of CHOGM 2003, embodied in the Meeting's Communiqué and the Aso Rock Declaration.

Later in the day he will meet Commonwealth High Commissioners to exchange views on the Commonwealth's agenda during his term in office.
