Media Accreditation open for CHOGM 2003

The Commonwealth Secretariat is now accepting applications for media accreditation to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM 2003) in Abuja, Nigeria, on 5-8 December 2003. The theme of the meeting will be 'Development and Democracy - Partnership for Peace and Prosperity'.

The biennial meeting will bring together Heads of Government and representatives of 52 member countries. As part of the broad Commonwealth agenda they are expected to discuss the inter-connections between democracy and development and receive a report from a Commonwealth Expert Group on these issues.

Political issues, implementation of the Commonwealth Plan of Action on Terrorism, progress in the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals and challenges facing small states are likely to be on the agenda, which is being drawn up in consultation with Heads of Government.

Application forms for media accreditation can be downloaded from the Commonwealth Secretariat website http://www.thecommonwealth.org/ or the CHOGM 2003 website http://www.chogm2003.info/. Alternatively hard copy application forms can be requested by e-mailing chogm@commonwealth.int or by faxing: +44 (0) 20 7839 2339.


The closing date for applications for media accreditation is Friday, 31 October 2003.
