Commonwealth Secretary-General to visit Nigeria

Commonwealth Secretary-General Don McKinnon will visit Nigeria on 1-2 September 2003. He will meet with President Olusegun Obasanjo and Foreign Minister Olu Adeniji to discuss preparations for and issues relating to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, to be held in Abuja from 5-8 December 2003.
On 1 September, Mr McKinnon will deliver a lecture at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs on 'The Commonwealth and Africa: A Precious Partnership.' The Secretary-General will emphasise the close connections between Africa and the Commonwealth and discuss the role of the Commonwealth in the world today.
