Secretary-General to consult with Caribbean leaders

Commonwealth Secretary-General Don McKinnon will attend the 24th Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) in Montego Bay, Jamaica, on 2-5 July 2003 as a Special Guest.
Mr McKinnon will consult with CARICOM leaders on Commonwealth issues, with a focus on economic, political and security challenges facing small states in the region. He will also brief leaders on preparations for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting scheduled to take place in Abuja, Nigeria, on 5-8 December 2003.
"This will be a historic meeting as it marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of CARICOM - a major milestone for the region. The Commonwealth has been engaged with the organisation from the beginning and warmly congratulates it on its achievements," the Secretary-General said.
The special theme for this year's meeting is Integration - Our Key to Prosperity, with a special focus on youth.
