Commonwealth Secretary-General expresses concern about India-Pakistan* tensions

The Commonwealth Secretary-General, speaking from Nigeria where he is on vacation, today expressed concern at the latest border incident between India and Pakistan*. He urged that utmost restraint be exercised and hoped that both countries would find it possible to resolve their differences peacefully.
*Following a military coup in October 1999, Pakistan has been suspended from the councils of the Commonwealth
