The Group includes the Foreign Ministers of The Bahamas, Canada, India, Lesotho, Malta, Nigeria, Samoa, Sri Lanka and United Republic of Tanzania.
CMAG will consider the situation in Pakistan, which is currently suspended from the councils of the Commonwealth. The Group will also consider developments in Fiji Islands, which has remained on CMAG's agenda since the lifting in 2002 of its suspension from the councils of the Commonwealth.
CMAG was established by Commonwealth leaders in 1995 to deal with serious or persistent violations of the Harare Commonwealth Declaration of 1991, which lays down the association's fundamental political values. The Group was reconstituted by Commonwealth Heads of Government at their meeting in Abuja last year. It usually meets twice a year to consider developments in the countries on its agenda.
