New Publication: ‘Agriculture In The Commonwealth’

24 March 2004

Agriculture in the Commonwealth
Looks at current agricultural practices, opportunities and limitations within the diverse climates and geographies of Commonwealth countries.

Effective management of land and natural resources for sustainable development of agriculture is crucial for landowners, farmers and businessmen. So is the reaping of healthy harvests by sowing new seeds for growth through financing, new technology, and research and development to meet global standards.

These issues are dealt with in 'Agriculture in the Commonwealth', the official publication for the 21st Commonwealth Agricultural Conference being held in New South Wales, Australia, this week from 24 to 26 March 2004. It bears the theme, 'The Power of Water'.

'Agriculture in the Commonwealth' takes a look at current agricultural practices, opportunities and limitations within the diverse climates and geographies of Commonwealth countries. It showcases sustainable and cost-effective agricultural models and examines the impact of trade liberalisation. These and other challenges faced by developing countries in meeting international standards for agricultural trade, are also looked at.

This publication is the product of an alliance between the Commonwealth Secretariat, the Commonwealth Business Council and the Royal Agricultural Society of the Commonwealth.
