The two-day meeting, which ends today (17 March) aims to develop a strategic framework to enhance work performance through best practices from Commonwealth countries. Methods to improve the management system including change management, personnel development and better use of financial resources, will be discussed. Leadership and promoting the concept of a 'learning organisation' are also on the agenda.
Speakers at the meeting include the President of Mauritius, Sir Anerood Jugnauth; Canada's Treasury Board Assistant Secretary Ralph Heintzman; and British Permanent Secretary Mavis McDonald, from the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister.
The meeting is organised by the Commonwealth Association for Public Administration and Management (CAPAM), which is involved in strengthening public management, consolidating democracy and good governance throughout the Commonwealth. This is achieved through the exchange of experience among senior elected and appointed public officials, academics and representatives of non-governmental organisations and the private sector.
