President Obasanjo visit to Commonwealth Secretariat

The new Commonwealth Chairperson-in-Office, President Olusegun Obasanjo of Nigeria, visited Secretary-General Don McKinnon at Marlborough House in London on Friday, 23 January 2004.

The new Commonwealth Chairperson-in-Office, President Olusegun Obasanjo of Nigeria, met Secretary-General Don McKinnon at Marlborough House in London on Friday, 23 January 2004. Nigeria assumed the chair for two years after it hosted the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Abuja, in December 2003.

Discussions between President Obasanjo and Mr McKinnon focused on implementation of the outcomes of CHOGM 2003, embodied in the Meeting’s Communiqué and the Aso Rock Commonwealth Declaration.

Later in the day President Obasanjo met Commonwealth High Commissioners to exchange views on the Commonwealth’s agenda during his term in office.
