The Commonwealth’s thoughts are with the people of Samoa and Fiji, following the death and destruction caused by Cyclone Evan as it swept across the South Pacific this week.
We offer our heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of those who have lost loved ones.
Cyclone Evan’s damage to homes, infrastructure and livelihoods is a stark reminder of the vulnerability of small island developing states, 25 of which are part of the Commonwealth family.
Mitigating the impact of extreme weather patterns on our small island states continues to be a priority for the Commonwealth.
