Commonwealth Secretary-General holds talks with Hungarian Foreign Minister

Kamalesh Sharma and Janos Martonyi discuss relations between the Commonwealth Secretariat and the European Commission

The Minister of Foreign Affairs for Hungary, Janos Martonyi, called on the Commonwealth Secretary-General, Kamalesh Sharma, at Marlborough House in London on 22 June 2011.

During their meeting they discussed relations between the Commonwealth Secretariat and the European Commission, ahead of visits the Secretary-General will make to high-level officials in Brussels, Belgium, next week. Hungary is currently President of the European Council.

The Secretary-General and Mr Martonyi also discussed the Commonwealth’s continuing work to highlight globally the challenges of small states and vulnerable states, including in the G20, as well as Hungary’s candidature for a seat on the United Nations Security Council in 2012/13.
