Stephen Cutts was selected “from an exceptional field of candidates”

The newly created post of Commonwealth Assistant Secretary-General for Corporate Affairs will be taken up by Stephen Cutts, of the United Kingdom.

He will report to Commonwealth Secretary-General, Kamalesh Sharma on corporate affairs, with oversight responsibilities for the Commonwealth Secretariat’s Finance and Administration Division, its Strategic Planning and Evaluation Division and its Human Resources Section/Division.

Mr Sharma said: “I am very pleased to be able to make this appointment. From an exceptional field of candidates, Stephen Cutts offered a wealth of experience in a broad range of areas of our work. I am confident that the Commonwealth will benefit enormously from the significant contribution that he will make.”

Responding to the appointment, Mr Cutts said: “I am honoured to have been given this great opportunity, and I look forward to working in the service of the Commonwealth’’.

Mr Cutts is currently the Director of the Commonwealth Secretariat’s Strategic Planning and Evaluation Division. He has held a number of high level positions, including those of Director and Head of Office of the Secretary-General of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and Executive Director for INSEAD’s Africa Initiative.

Mr Cutts holds an Executive MBA from INSEAD.
