Global presents clear facts, analysis and commentary on pressing twenty-first century issues
A new international affairs magazine has been published with a focus on contributing to the debate and understanding of the world’s many challenges and solutions.
Global, which was launched at the Commonwealth summit in Trinidad and Tobago last month, is published by Nexus Strategic Partnerships in association with the Commonwealth Secretariat.
“Global is to be a serious and non-partisan contribution to the debate on sustainable and equitable globalisation,” said Commonwealth Secretary-General Kamalesh Sharma.

“Insight and analysis by leaders, experts and thinkers will be complemented by the input of those at the sharp end of globalisation: the voices of the young, women and the poor.”
While this magazine is a Commonwealth initiative, it is both international and independent.
The first edition featured interviews with, among others, Nobel Laureate, Professor Amartya Sen, Trinidad and Tobago’s Prime Minister Patrick Manning and Donald Kaberuka, President of the African Development Bank. It also focused on climate change, ahead of the current talks in Copenhagen, and included special reports on Ghana, India, and Trinidad & Tobago.
The three countries featured in the next edition – which will be published on Commonwealth Day, on 8 March 2010 - are Canada, South Africa and Papua New Guinea.
According to Richard Synge, the magazine’s editor, while Global does not pretend to have all the answers, it ensures that “the right people are asking the right questions.”
He argues that the “multi-stakeholder editorial approach, balancing exclusive input from global leaders themselves, analysis from leading experts and personal stories from citizens at the sharp end of globalisation” all make the magazine unique.
