Delegates from 18 African Commonwealth countries meet at Forum in Seychelles
The 6th Forum of Commonwealth Heads of African Services will take place in Mahé, Seychelles, from 13 to 15 July 2009.
The event will bring together 50 delegates from the 18 African Commonwealth countries, including ten observers from Management Development Institutes from the region.
This annual forum is financed by the Commonwealth Fund for Technical Co-operation, and this year, it is co-organised between the Commonwealth Secretariat and the Government of Seychelles.
The forum, which this year bears the theme, ‘Managing and Measuring Performance in the Public Service in Commonwealth Africa’ offers the Heads of Public Services in Commonwealth Africa an opportunity to network and share best practices on contemporary public sector issues.
“The aim is to engender a common understanding of pertinent public sector issues and challenges, and to collectively seek appropriate solutions for improved public sector performance and service delivery,” said Jacqueline Wilson, Director of the Governance and Institutional Development at the Commonwealth Secretariat.
“Public services are expected to continue providing efficient, effective, adequate and quality services to citizens. To achieve this it is important to nurture a performance culture across the public service and to promote accountability to citizens.”
