11 September 2008
The 11 modules of the course cover the fundamentals of digital techniques
The Commonwealth Broadcasting Association (CBA) is running its second ‘Introduction to Digital Technology’ distance learning course for 12 weeks commencing 12 September 2008.
The development of the course was made possible because the CBA won the IABM Tom McGann Training Award 2008.
The 11 modules of the course cover the fundamentals of digital techniques including compression, multiplexing and transmission; acquisition; post-production; playout; audio production; system management and support; and project management, as well as top level management issues and business planning.
Five specialist tutors are involved and all have many years of experience in broadcast engineering/IT, management and training.
The first course was run during the summer of 2008 with 20 students from Cameroon, Botswana, Nigeria, Swaziland, Mozambique, Zambia, Sri Lanka, Jamaica and Seychelles, and was very successful.
Gabriel Ajayi – Nigeria
“Every new topic gives me something new to take home; I must confess that the one I found most useful in the course is the module on Project Management. From now on, the professional angle of view gained from this module and other modules on the course will continue to reflect on my work...This is a good development for me and my organisation.”
Modisaotsile Manyake - Botswana
“The training was so impressive that the management decided for me to share the course with others in an indoor workshop.”
