Commonwealth to participate in US, UK initiative
A select group of journalists in the Gambia will attend a two-week course on how to report human rights convened by the governments of the United States and the United Kingdom,.
The Commonwealth’s Human Rights Unit will make a presentation at the workshop due to be held in Banjul March 3-13. The Communications and Public Affairs Division, whose remit includes media development and training, will also be represented at the event.
Lead instructor will be noted UK media personality Nicholas Kotch, who has worked as a journalist, trainer and consult on media in Africa over the last three decades. He will be joined by Canada-based Alexandra Sicotte-Levesque of Journalists for Human Rights.
The British High Commission and the United States Embassy in the Gambia are handling logistics for this event.
