Sierra Leone prepares for economics journalism course

Training is first collaboration between Commonwealth and Columbia University New York

A media course on economics journalism, with a particular focus on finance and the budget process, will be held in Free Town, Sierra Leone February 18-21. The course is collaboration between the Commonwealth Secretariat and Columbia University New York’s Initiative for Policy Dialogue.

BBC journalist Orin Gordon will lead the course, at which Professor Anya Schiffrin of Columbia University will also be a speaker.

Anya, a former Dow Jones bureau chief in Hanoi, Vietnam, trains journalists at the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University.
