McKinnon meets OAS's Insulza in Washington DC

Secretary-General Don McKinnon met with Organization of American States (OAS) Secretary-General Jose Miguel Insulza in Washingon DC on 29 January.

Both Secretaries-General have made it a point to meet regulary to discuss issues of mutual interest in the Caribbean and Canada, where both organisations share members.

The Commonwealth and OAS leaders discussed recent developments in the Caribbean region, including Belize, where the Commonwealth will, for the first time, observe a general election.

As well, both organisations are exploring ways to co-operate on multilateral issues such as terrorism and narco-trafficking, especially in the field of money laundering.
