The 10-day programme, sponsored by the Commonwealth Fund for Technical Co-operation (CFTC) and the New Zealand Agency for International Development (NZAID), will focus on national priorities and strategies in public sector change in developing countries, and is targeted at policy-makers involved in public sector reform.
John Wilkins, Acting Director of the Governance and Institutional Development Division of the Commonwealth Secretariat which is managing this CFTC project, said issues such as innovative service delivery, managing decentralisation and leading programmes of change are being discussed. Participants will also have the chance to consider their country's national agendas for public sector reform and their own experiences and roles in achieving those objectives.
"Participants who are involved in their government's public sector reform will discuss and exchange views on best practice, initiatives and strategies for implementation," said Mr Wilkins. "They will have the opportunity to learn from the expert international team, as well as from each other, leading to great networking opportunities for the future."
Mr Wilkins added that representatives from New Zealand's public organisations would also be involved in discussions on change strategies, public sector management, managing performance and capacity-building for development.
