Spotlight on New Broadcast Technologies at CBA Conference

The conference will focus on new platforms like the Ipod.
The Commonwealth Broadcasting Association (CBA) General Conference to be held in New Delhi, India, on 15-18 February 2006, will focus on new technologies and applications in the broadcast industry. The new platforms include the multimedia personal computer; Ipods; radios with text; mobile phones with live TV; and live TV on vehicles such as buses, trains and cars. A group of professionals will share their views and vision on the impact of these new communications tools.

Conference participants will be able to develop a better understanding of the available technology and its appropriate use for maximum impact.

Technical sessions of the conference will explore available options to create new broadcast services including the trend towards digital technology. These sessions will range from developing technical strategies to financing operations and outsourcing services.

Elizabeth Smith, the CBA's Secretary-General, said India offers an exciting venue for the conference, adding: "The Indian media is so vibrant and diverse. There is so much to discover and discuss in various areas of advancement in broadcast technology. We have an exceptional line-up of key media players who will examine the role public service broadcasters can play to help make a difference in the new multi-platform world."
