Commonwealth Secretary-General meets with Pakistan Parliamentary Delegation

The Commonwealth Secretary-General, Don McKinnon, met on the 9th of February with a delegation from the Pakistan Branch of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA).

The delegation, which included parliamentarians from government and opposition parties in Pakistan, is on a one week visit to the United Kingdom.

During the meeting, the Secretary-General encouraged Pakistan to continue rebuilding and strengthening democratic institutions, including through the CPA.

They discussed the Commonwealth's engagement with Pakistan and Mr McKinnon highlighted a number of ongoing Commonwealth technical assistance programmes.

The Commonwealth Secretary-General also confirmed that the Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group (CMAG) will be discussing the situation in Pakistan on Friday 11 February.
