Commonwealth mourns Jamaican icon Rex Nettleford

Commonwealth Secretary-General Kamalesh Sharma has mourned the passing of the Jamaican Professor Rex Nettleford, who died on 2 February 2010.

"A true son of Jamaica and of the Caribbean region, Rex was also a great servant of the Commonwealth," he said.

"He gave so much to this family of nations, and never more so than when he sat on the Commonwealth Commission on Respect and Understanding just two years ago. A man of such vision and so many talents, he dazzled us with his ideas and his compassion. He will be sorely missed."
