Kenya’s Minister of Finance Amos Kimunya to address Commonwealth investment forum in London
A conference to woo Kenyans living abroad to invest at home will be held in London, UK, on 9 December 2006.
Dubbed 'Kenyans4kenya -- The Kenya Diaspora Investment Forum 2006', the event is organised in part by the Commonwealth Secretariat.
Scheduled speakers at the conference include Kenya's Minister of Finance Amos Kimunya and representatives of the Nairobi Stock Exchange, Kenya Investment Promotion Authority and Kenya Private Sector Alliance.
The one-day talk-fest on investment opportunities in Kenya hopes to attract around 500 participants. It will also be attended by representatives from the Kenya Tourism Board, Equity Bank and Barclays Bank, among other private sector players.
"The conference was the result of discussions with key private sector, public and civil society players who recognised that most migrant populations remit a lot of money back home, a trend that sustained a case for bigger and better co-ordinated investment to augment the country's economic development," said Julius Kaberere, Adviser and Programme Manager with the Secretariat's Governance and Institutional Development Division, which is managing the event.
The forum is to be held at the Congress Centre, Great Russell Street, in Central London. For details, visit www.kenyans4kenya.com.
