Programme is aimed at enhancing the skills of broadcasters
The Commonwealth Broadcasting Association (CBA) is offering distance learning courses for broadcast journalists from developing countries.
The programme, which is funded by the Commonwealth Media Development Fund and starts on 15 September 2007, is part of the CBA's objective to enhance the skills of broadcasters in developing member countries. The courses take into account the technical capacity in many developing countries and the modules are structured to ensure that all participants benefit from the training.
Training Director Jasmine Dhariwal said: "This is an innovative step for the CBA as it allows us to provide training to a much wider audience, covering most areas from management to programme-making.
"Our training sessions also include the use of online forums. So it is not just about getting a certificate but it is also an opportunity for journalists from Commonwealth member countries to network."
