Commonwealth Programme in Youth Development Work

Professor V.N Rajasekharan Pillai, Vice Chancellor and Chairman of the Distance Education Council at the Indira Gandhi National Open University - India comments on the CYP Diploma Programme on "Youth in Development Work"

The Diploma Programme in "Youth in Development Work" under the Commonwealth Youth Programme is one of the highly acclaimed learning, training and capacity building activities happening in a number of academic institutions in Commonwealth countires.

Developed by a team of pan-Commonwealth experts, the modules provide courses in project management, youth and health, youth and eduation and the promotion of Commonwealth values and principles. While the academic and delivery parts of the Diploma programme are progressing effectively, it is desirable tha the local governemnts and partner academic establishments institutionalise this programme keeping the integrity, original objectives and founding principles of the programme.
