Jacque Koroivulano, Pacific Youth Council President delivers speech at Pacific Islands Forum Summit in Fiji Islands
Jacque Koroivulano, Pacific Youth Council President delivered a speech at the 37th Pacific Islands Forum Summit, in which she expressed her appreciation to the Forum Secretariat for their vision and commitment to the Pacific Plan.
The Thirty-Seventh Pacific Islands Forum was held in Fiji, from 24-25 October 2006, and was attended by Heads of State and Government of Australia, the Cooke Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, New Zealand, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu.
Leaders welcomed the considerable progress made in implementing the Pacific Plan, which is aimed at enhancing regional co-operation and integration among Pacific islands countries.
A Commonwealth Pacific Governance Programme will soon be launched by the Commonwealth Secretariat in support of the Pacific Plan. This was announced by the Commonwealth Secretary-General Don McKinnon in a speech delivered at the Summit on 25 October.
