Vimala Ann Babu and Victoria Moreno win International Award

The International Award is an exciting self-development programme to all 14-25 year olds. Over 7 million young people world wide have taken up the Award challenge. The latest to receive the Award in Zambia are two young girls, both aged 14 and in Grade 10, from the Italian School. Vimala Ann Babu and Victoria Moreno received the bronze award for outstanding performances. Presenting the Awards, Zambia’s first lady Thandiwe Banda urged the young people to emulate the two award winners to work hard in order to be Award Winners as well.

Vimala received an award for her skills in flower arrangement, physical recreation in karate, where she is a Blue belt Winner; due to her exceptional talent, she skipped the Yellow Belt, and is hoping to be a Black Belt winner in the near future. In the area of community service, she went to Lusaka’s mother Theresa Orphanage where she spent time with orphans and had fun with them and also shared some food stuffs with them. In the area of adventure, she has learnt that team work is very vital, without it, you fail. She has also learnt the importance of hard work, commitment, understanding and strengths that are achieved from team work. Her hobbies include Drawing, playing and watching soccer.

Victoria Moreno received the Award for her skills in playing the Guitar. Though she has only played for one year, she is exceptionally talented in the skill and she hopes to be among the best Guitarists in the Country. In physical recreation, Victoria has been playing Tennis since the age of five. In the area of service, she went to Lusaka’s showground’s vet where she walked the dogs, fed the animals and she also helped the Vet doctor and staff where she could. Her interests include Drawing and taking care of Animals.
