Commonwealth and ITU agree on further collaboration

The Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union, Dr Hamadoun Touré, called on Commonwealth Deputy Secretary-General Ransford Smith at the Commonwealth Secretariat headquarters in London, UK, on 3 November 2011.

They discussed areas of mutual interest and collaboration between the two organisations, including the Secretariat’s Commonwealth Connects programme and portal, internet governance and cyber security.

Mr Smith also used the opportunity to brief Dr Touré on major outcomes from the recent Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Perth, Australia, which took place from 28 to 30 October. Both parties agreed to continue collaboration in promoting information and communication technology for development.
