Commonwealth Secretary-General Kamalesh Sharma presented the Australian Prime Minister, Julia Gillard, with a copy of the new publication, The Commonwealth - Making a Difference, on 27 October 2011.

The publication was launched in Perth this week in conjunction with CHOGM 2011.

The 132-page volume is produced by the Commonwealth Secretariat in partnership with the University of Western Australia and the Central Bank of India.

"This book is one of the ways of lifting the Commonwealth's profile," said the Commonwealth Secretary-General.

"The book showcases the practical action and initiatives undertaken by the Commonwealth Secretariat in member countries which help to transform lives - by creating a postive impact and making a difference."

The publication highlights the Secretariat's work in democracy and consensus-building, on the environment, on advancing the role of women to promote economic and social progress, youth empowerment, health and education, human rights, the rule of law, and peace-building.
