Commonwealth Director wins prestigious performance management award

Prajapati Trivedi, the Commonwealth’s Director of Economic, Youth and Sustainable Development, has been awarded the Harry Hatry Award for Performance Management by the American Society for Public Administration.

Prajapati Trivedi, the Commonwealth’s Director of Economic, Youth and Sustainable Development, has been awarded the Harry Hatry Award for Performance Management by the American Society for Public Administration.  Awarded to an individual whose outstanding teaching, education, training and consultation in performance measurement has made a significant contribution to the practice of public administration, the award recognizes a person who has made outstanding contributions on a sustained basis rather than a single accomplishment.

In addition to working for the Commonwealth, Professor Trivedi is a visiting fellow at the IBM Center for the Business of Government in Washington DC and a visiting faculty member at the Kennedy School of Government in Harvard.  Prior to joining the Commonwealth, he was Faculty Chair of the Management Programme in Public Policy at the Indian School of Business.  From 2009-2014, Professor Trivedi worked as a Secretary to the Government of India in the Cabinet Secretariat, where he designed a whole-of-government performance monitoring and evaluation system.  He worked as a Senior Economist with the World Bank from 1995-2009; Economic Adviser to Government of India from 1992-1994 and taught at the Indian Institute of Management in Calcutta from 1987-1992.  The author of four books and several academic papers, he has worked in 27 countries around the world.

Richard Greene, Chair of the Center for Accountability and Performance presented the award at a ceremony in Washington.  He applauded Professor Trivedi’s experience as a practitioner in the field of performance management in a wide variety of government settings, as well as his extensive teaching and research experience.
