Follow-up International Conference on Financing for Development to Review the Implementation of the Monterrey Consensus


29 November - 2 December 2008, Doha, Qatar.

The UN General Assembly, in its resolution 62/187 of 19 December 2007, decided on the review conference. The objective of the conference is to address progress made, reaffirm goals and commitments, share best practices and lessons learned. The conference also aims to identify obstacles and constraints encountered, actions and initiatives to overcome them and important measures for further implementation, as well as new challenges and emerging issues.


High-level Event, UN Headquarters


New York, 25 September 2008

The UN Secretary-General and the President of the UN General Assembly will convene a High-level Event on the Millennium Development Goals at UN Headquarters in New York on 25 September 2008. The High-level Event will be a forum for world leaders to review progress, identify gaps, and commit to concrete efforts, resources and mechanisms to bridge the gaps. Moreover, the Event will send a message to the Doha Review Conference from the highest political level, on strengthening the global partnership for development and building consensus on financing for development.
