Conclusion and Way forward
The expert panel suggested that the country action plans and strategies which were proposed during the course of the workshop were only a beginning and underlined the need to intensify work in the area. Essentially, it was suggested that participants should pick up one area and choose an action plan which is grounded and manageable. It was felt that there was a need to flesh out the strategies in greater detail.
The participants also recognized the value of cross learnings from amongst each other and from the experts who attended the workshop. A number of fruitful contacts were made for further networking and cross country cooperation in setting up and replicating successful models and cases of women entrepreneurship which were shared during the course of the workshop.
The Commonwealth Secretariat also announced that work on preparation of a training module for increasing greater participation of women was in progress and would be shared in due course with all the participants. The module would also benefit from the case studies of successful interventions which have increased women’s participation which could then be replicated across countries and regions.
