Small States Digest - Issue 4, 2010

Welcome to the fourth issue of the Small States Digest, a periodic information sharing newsletter from the Commonwealth Secretariat, focusing on the needs and interests of Small States.

In this issue, the digest carries three main articles namely: “Guiding global island conservation into on-ground actions for bio-diversity outcomes.” by Rebecca Richardson; “Policy Options to address the debt problem of Commonwealth small vulnerable economies.” by Samantha Attridge; and, “Small States integration process: the Caribbean” by Prof. Vaughn Lewis

Rebecca’s article looks at the work of the Global Island Partnership (GLISPA) in assisting small islands to protect their biodiversity. The article by Samantha Attridge looks at seven proposals to address the debt problems faced by small states . Prof Lewis’s article reviews the efforts at regional integration in the Caribbean and examines ways in which the scope of contemporary CARICOM integration can be widened.
