COMMONWEALTH YOUTH PROGRAMME REGIONAL CENTRE for AFRICA
The Commonwealth Youth Programme Regional Africa Center (CYPRCA) assists member governments in the development of programmes for the empowerment of young people aged 15–29,Its Plan of Action for Youth Empowerment, is the strategic policy framework for advancing youth development in the Commonwealth. It provides guidance on creating the enabling environment for young people to participate as equal partners in development and democracy. All CYP programmes aim at developing young people through their active participation in achieving the MDGs.
CYPRCA seeks to provide a Voluntary internship opportunity to a highly self-motivated, enthusiastic and innovative young person to fill the following Position as soon as possible.
Communications Intern (C I)
Education/ Experience:
Essential:
- Should be a student or recent graduate pursuing a Degree or Diploma in Journalism or Mass Communications.
- Good oral and Written communication Skills
- Good writing skills for print and electronic media.
- Ability to collate best practice from the field, reports and other documentation for media publication or purposes.
- Good research skills / ability to gather and present information to facilitate Programme delivery.
- Good designing and graphic skills
- Good Liaison skills with various media houses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Timely-Coordination of, and the processing and dissemination of CYP Publication both in Print and Electronic media.
- Prepare Print and electronic Publication materials, briefings and updates and other documentation for the CYP webpage.
- Drafting, typing and processing correspondence for CYP RCA.
- Reinforce and provide well researched information to facilitate Programme delivery by CYP RCA.
- Participate in programme planning, implementation and evaluation.
Skills
- Possess basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, email and internet research and relevant software packages
- Highly effective inter-personal skills and a commitment to working with teams representing the diversity of ethnic, religious, racial and cultural components of the Commonwealth.
- A commitment to learn in a multi-national environment.
Duration
The internship offer is for 4-6 months (renewable) depending on performance and preference of applicant
