Trade Facilitation

The Trade Section’s work programme in customs and trade facilitation is a cornerstone of the Commonwealth Secretariat’s goal to promote export competitiveness.

It aims to improve the capacity of member countries to address the measures which often need to be put in place to simplify business procedures and customs documentation and reduce the costs of doing business within and at their borders.

The Commonwealth Secretariat’s work in customs and trade facilitation is aimed at providing member countries with:

(a) practical and policy guidance to address the bottlenecks to efficient trade,

 (b) advice on the most effective strategies to create a more business friendly environment and

(c) analysis of specific customs, trade, and logistics-related problems which inhibit export competitiveness and effective trade facilitation.
