Debt Management

The main objective of the debt programme is to build capacity in debt management as well as to provide advisory support on debt strategies and institutional aspects.

Debt Management Workshop

Key Areas of Work:

Our key areas of work are;

  • Strengthening the institutional framework of debt management;
  • Providing the Commonwealth Secretariat's debt recording and management systems (CS-DRMS); 
  • Assisting in recording various types of debt; 
  • Building capacity in debt management; 
  • Providing policy advice and assistance with debt analysis; 
  • Providing short or long-term debt management experts to member countries as and when needed
  • Adding value through strategic partnerships.
  • Contributing to debt standards and dissemination of debt statistics. The Commonwealth Secretariat is a member of an IMF-led inter-agency task force of team on Finance Statistics.
