Workshops on capacity building for effective management of domestic debt portfolio

A series of regional workshops aims to train a cadre of debt analysts in the developing member countries in order for them to more effectively address the challenges presented by the fast growing domestic debt portfolio.

    The three regional workshops; one for Africa, one for the Caribbean and one for Asia and the Pacific regions is expected to train an average of 25 participants from the current 74 active CS-DRMS sites selected on the basis of academic qualifications and experience gained working in Debt Office will be invited to the workshop.

    The training programme will include presentation and discussions on the following topics:

    • Investor base analysis, market development and developing yield curves
    • Portfolio and sensitivity analysis and market valuation of securities
    • Risk analysis
    • Active debt management
    • The link between the CS-DRMS and effective debt management
    • The role of effective domestic debt management in achieving macroeconomic policy objectives.
    • The workshops would also be used to show case the securities Auctioning module.
