The Commonwealth Regulatory Workshop, Caribbean Countries and Global Financial Regulation: A Practitioners Forum

Friday 26th August 2011 at the Hyatt Regency, Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.

The Commonwealth Secretariat successfully held a Regulatory Discussion Forum for Caribbean countries on the 26th August 2011.  The one-day dialogue brought Central Bank governors, heads of regulatory authorities and senior supervisory officials from around the Caribbean, together with representatives from the major international standard setters and international financial institutions.

The objectives of the meeting were to:

• Provide an overview of recent policy developments in the regulatory architecture
• Share insights into the impact of new regulations on developing countries
• Identify ongoing needs of developing countries and determine whether the existing multilateral institutional response could be supplemented.
