Information Technology Section

Henry Nyambu

Henry is Head of the Information Technology Section. His roles include developing the Commonwealth Secretariat's IT strategy and leading the development of an IT technical roadmap to support the needs and ambitions of the business strategy and the developing architecture.

He also manages the IT team to ensure the development of the Secretariat's computing environment, the security systems and the efficient running of the section.

Henry has 18 years IT experience, of which 14 were IT management roles. He has experience in implementing financial application systems, back-office systems, networks and systems design and development.

Johnson Mujungu

Johnson is the IT Supervisor and deputises for the Head of IT.  He oversees a team of seven IT specialist staff providing comprehensive support for all IT office and associated systems used internally at the Commonwealth Secretariat.

He manages and initiates appropriate support processes and procedures, coordinates and supervises the day-to-day activities of the IT team, including planning schedules, work allocation, problem resolution, assessing training needs and other related tasks.

Johnson has over ten years experience in IT including Wintel Networks, LAN/WAN Technologies, team building and supervisory leadership.

Jagdish Bhimjiyani

Jagdish is a Service Desk Specialist in the Information Technology section. He responds to inquiries and requests for assistance with the Secretariat’s computer systems, identifies problems and provides advice to assist users. Within his role, Jagdish serves as the first and second level of response to users with software and hardware issues.

Jagdish is also called upon to support the Network Specialist in performing network and server maintenance and assists support specialists in resolving technical problems.

Gilbert Hazel

Gilbert is an IT Network Specialist in the Corporate Services Division at the Commonwealth Secretariat. He is responsible for providing specialist support for the IT network and security infrastructure at the Secretariat. Gilbert previously worked as a telecommunications engineer at Cable and Wireless Montserrat, in the Caribbean.


 

Hirantha Iddamalgoda

Hirantha is a Systems Specialist in the IT Team. He deals with business systems development and maintenance issues of mainstream applications including database support using the MS SQL Server. He specialises in systems development methodologies on the Microsoft platform using Microsoft tools. He is a member of the team that looks after Documentum, eRoom and associated applications including designing and conducting user training. Hirantha has experience in IT application systems design methodologies and development using a variety of languages including COBOL, SQL400 and Visual Basic.

Hirantha’s previous experience includes working as a computer programmer in Sri Lanka and an IT lecturer in Sri Lanka and the UK.

Julliet Ngodoki

Julliet is a Systems Specialist in the IT Team. She deals with business systems development and maintenance issues of mainstream applications, including database support using MS SQL Server. She specialises in systems development methodologies on the Microsoft platform using Microsoft tools. She is a member of the Systems team, supporting all aspects of the technological infrastructure and looking after Symantec Antivirus, Documentum, eRoom and associated applications including designing and conducting user training.

Julliet has experience in IT application systems design methodologies and development using a variety of languages including Pascal, COBOL, SQL7 and VB.

Madhav Sharma

Madhav Sharma is a Systems Specialist in the IT team. He deals with business systems development and maintenance issues of mainstream applications including database support using MS SQL Server. He looks after the intranet, extranet, workflows on Documentum and other ancillary systems based on Documentum and SQL server.

He has over eight years  experience designing, developing, and maintaining small and large scale enterprise applications using java, j2ee, and Microsoft technologies. He has extensive experience in implementing programmes and projects on the enterprise application integration platform.

Samuel Barnes

Sam Barnes is a Support Specialist in the Information Technology section. Sam provides assistance to staff whose computers have software and hardware problems.

He is a qualified and experienced network support specialist with experience in both business and educational IT environments.

 

Stephen Perkins

Stephen is a Support Specialist in the Information Technology section.  He works on the IT Service Desk, providing first-line support for users working within the Commonwealth Secretariat headquarters. He diagnoses problems and takes appropriate action.

Steve’s role involves support of all IT software and hardware issues relating to the desktop infrastructure, standalone backups, and images. He is also responsible for the IT Inventory.
